The ÌÇÐÄVlog Testing Center provides on-site testing for the exams listed below. Please read the information about each exam carefully. All tests are administered in-person. For questions, please call 828.227.7397 or email testingcenter@wcu.edu

The ACT On-Campus Test (Formerly ACT Residual) is designed especially for students who want to come to ÌÇÐÄVlog University and want to increase their ACT scores to be more competitive for enrollment. The ACT On-Campus score CANNOT be reported to any other higher education institution.

ÌÇÐÄVlog University Nursing Students should review the information below about the ÌÇÐÄVlog Nursing School Application Process.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Admission to ÌÇÐÄVlog’s School of Nursing requires candidates to take all 4 multiple choice sections of the ACT On-Campus Exam. No essay is required. Scores for this test are NOT transferable to any other program or school.

The Test Center offers ACT testing at least monthly on scheduled dates which are available at testing.wcu.edu. Effective January 1, 2019 - ÌÇÐÄVlog charges a non-refundable test administration fee of $89.00.

How to Register:
To register and schedule an ACT Exam
Please indicate your selected testing date. If you are not prompted for a testing date, e-mail testingcenter@wcu.edu and include your payment receipt.How often can the test be taken?
The ACT On-Campus Test may be taken only once every 60 days. Examinees may take the ACT no more than 12 times total.

On the day of the exam:

  • The ÌÇÐÄVlog Testing Center's new location on the Cullowhee campus of ÌÇÐÄVlog University is Belk Building Room 404.
  • Please arrive at least 15 prior to the posted start of the test.
  • Leave all electronic devices including phones and tablets along with all personal items OUTSIDE the testing room.
  • A non-programmable calculator is allowed. 
  • Pencils and scratch paper will be provided.

The TEAS® is an assessment product of Academic Testing, Inc (ATI). The ÌÇÐÄVlog School of Nursing Undergraduate Pre-licensure program uses applicant performance on the ATI, in addition to the ACT Residual and current collegiate grade point average, to rank applicants to the program.

ÌÇÐÄVlog administers the TEAS version 7. This is also the only version currently accepted by our Nursing Department.

The Test Center offers TEAS testing at least monthly on scheduled dates which are available at testing.wcu.edu. Please note there is a test center fee in addition to the TEAS test fee (as of July 1, 2019). The test center administration fee at ÌÇÐÄVlog is $40.00. Currently, the TEAS exam cost is $70.00 (plus tax) from ATI, but is subject to change without notice. Students will pay the $40 test center fee when they register online and should be prepared to pay for the exam by credit card when they arrive on test day. Only credit card payments are accepted. Results of TEAS test are available as soon as the exam is complete if there are no testing irregularities to report.

How Often Can the Test be Taken?
The TEAS cannot be taken more than once every 30 days. Students should check with their program for testing requirements. THE ÌÇÐÄVlog SCHOOL OF NURSING 

Day of the Exam
• You must arrive on time. Late arrivals will not be admitted to the testing room.
• Photo ID is required for admission to the exam. Driver’s license is preferred.
• Use of calculators or other devices is not permitted. All personal items must be placed on the floor. Proctors may require that you place personal items in a designated area in the exam room.
• If you have an established account with ATI then you will need your username and password to log in. If you do not have an established account then you will create one at the beginning of the session.
• You will begin the exam session by making the online payment of $70.00+ tax to ATI. (Credit or debit card only)

ÌÇÐÄVlog the TEAS

What is the TEAS? 

The ATI TEAS, or Test of Essential Academic Skills, is a standardized test designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness for entering the health science fields. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform successfully in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage. 

 Why do I (the student) have to take the TEAS? 

The ATI TEAS has been statistically proven to be a valid predictor of early nursing school success. Your score on the TEAS is one measure of academic preparedness that helps the University of Texas at Arlington consider your acceptance into our nursing program(s). 

What does the TEAS exam consist of? 

The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions that are formatted as both multiple-choice items with 4 answer options and alternate-type items. This includes 150 scored questions and 20 unscored pretest questions. Students have 209 minutes to complete the exam.  ATI TEAS, version 7, the number of questions in each content section and subsection are as follows: 

Reading – 45 questions (55 minutes)

  • Key Ideas & Details – 15
  • Craft & Structure – 9
  • Integration of Knowledge & Ideas – 15
  • Unscored Pretest Items – 6

Math – 38 questions (57 minutes)

  • Numbers & Algebra – 18
  • Measurement & Data – 16
  • Unscored Pretest Items – 4

Science – 50 questions (60 minutes)

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology – 18
  • Biology – 9
  • Chemistry – 8
  • Scientific Reasoning – 9
  • Unscored Pretest Items – 6

English & Language Usage – 37 questions (37 minutes)

  • Conventions of Standard English – 12
  • Knowledge of Language – 11
  • Using Language and Vocabulary to Express Ideas in Writing – 10
  • Unscored Pretest Items – 4

How should I prepare for the TEAS exam? 

ATI, the official provider of prep for the exam, recommends that you allow yourself at least six weeks to prepare for the exam.

There are a variety of prep resources available to help you study for the test – all aligned to the ATI TEAS, Version 7 and packed with thousands of practice questions based on the content and format of the actual exam.

 test your knowledge of introductory college-level subjects and allow you to earn college credit for what you already know. Visit the Registrar's website for a complete list of CLEP Subject Examinations for which ÌÇÐÄVlog may award academic credit. Consult with the university of your choice to determine their individual CLEP policies. Individuals taking the English Composition Exam should review the  before registering. CLEP requires a waiting period of 90 day (3 months) between attempts at the same test.

The Test Center offers CLEP testing at least monthly on scheduled dates which are available at testing.wcu.edu. Please note there is a test center fee in addition to the $89 CLEP test fee (as of July 1, 2019). A scheduled test date administration fee is $40 and is non-refundable. Special dates of testing can be arranged on a limited basis. A non-scheduled test date administration fee is $95 and is non-refundable.

HOW TO REGISTER

Step 1
To register and schedule a CLEP Exam

Step 2
The College Board requires all CLEP test takers to set up an account and purchase the exam BEFORE arriving at the testing center. This exam payment is separate from the test center fee paid when you register through ÌÇÐÄVlog.

To set up an account,  
Once your account is created and you have paid for your exam, you will need to PRINT your exam voucher and BRING IT WITH YOU when you come to the ÌÇÐÄVlog Testing Center.

Request for special accommodations, if applicable.
If you have a learning or physical disability that would prevent you from taking a CLEP exam under standard conditions, you may request special accommodations and arrangements to take it on either a regularly scheduled test date or at a specially scheduled administration. For details, please contact the CLEP test administrator at the college where you plan to take the exam before you register. It is important that you notify your chosen Testing Center of your needs several weeks before your desired test date. For specific information on accommodations visit

 Identification
CLEP candidates must provide TWO forms of identification. The primary ID must be a government-issued photo ID. The ID must include the candidate's name, signature, and a recognizable photo. Secondary ID must include a signature and/or photo.

Acceptable forms of primary identification include:

  • A current driver's license.
  • A current state or federal ID card.
  • A current passport.

Acceptable forms of secondary identification include:

  • A social security card.
  • A current employee photo ID.
  • A current student photo ID.
  • A credit card with photograph.
  • An unused ID from the primary choices above.

DSST is an effective method to provide your college with evidence of prior learning. The 38 exams available at a competitive fee compliment other credit by exam programs such as CLEP. Consult with the university of your choice to determine DSST policies.

Your DSST examination scores are reported only to you, unless you request that they be sent elsewhere. If you want your scores sent to your college, you must provide the correct DSST code number of the school on your answer sheet at the time you take the test. See the Search tool located at: .

The Test Center offers CLEP testing at least monthly on scheduled dates which are available at testing.wcu.edu. Please note there is a test center fee in addition to the DSST test fee (as of July 1, 2019). ÌÇÐÄVlog's Test Center fee is $40 for a scheduled exam and is non-refundable. Special appointments may be arranged on a limited basis. The Test Center non-scheduled test fee is $100. 

You must pay for the DSST fee on the date of the test with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express Card. No other form of payment is acceptable. DSST does not accept Discover Card.

The New ÌÇÐÄVlog Testing & Training Center is located at 389 Centennial Drive, Belk Building, Room 404 on ÌÇÐÄVlog’s main campus in Cullowhee, NC.

If you are NOT a ÌÇÐÄVlog student, faculty, or staff and your vehicle is not registered with ÌÇÐÄVlog Parking Services, you may park (as a guest) in any available space in the Camp Building Lot.  Handicap Parking is located at the Belk Building Parking Lot.

Please leave all personal items in your car except your photo-ID. Lockers will be available at the Test Center as well. 

If you are taking a proctored exam that requires you log into a class, please bring your phone to log-in / authenticate. Once you’ve done so, the phone can be put away in a locker.  

IF YOU ARE A ÌÇÐÄVlog STUDENT, OR YOU CAR IS REGISTERED WITH ÌÇÐÄVlog, YOU MUST FOLLOW ALL NORMAL PARKING RULES AND REGULATIONS. 

ÌÇÐÄVlog University's Office of Continuing Education offers professional test proctoring for any distance learning student regardless of the college, university or school you attend. The service is available Monday through Friday during normal business hours between 8am and 5pm by appointment only. A proctoring fee of $25 for the first 2 hours is mandatory. Additional hours are $15 each.

*PLEASE NOTE: We will do our best to work with you to arrange the most convenient day and time, however, we cannot guarantee that we can accommodate your first choice. A minimum of one week's notice is required for any appointment. A longer lead time may be required if testing materials are being shipped to us. Once you have submitted your payment, include your payment confirmation in an e-mail to testingcenter@wcu.edu and confirm an exam date and time with our staff.

To request an exam appointment by email, you must include the following information in an email to testingcenter@wcu.edu:

  • your full name
  • your mailing address
  • your email address
  • your phone number and/or cell number
  • the school you are attending
  • the name of the class for which the requested exam is required
  • the method by which the exam is given (paper-based or online)
  • the allotted time for the exam
  • the date / time-frame during which the exam must be given*
  • your preferred day and time along with 1-2 alternates times
  • any contact information we may need for your instructor or whoever is administering the exam
  • The ÌÇÐÄVlog Testing & Training Center is located in room 404 of the Belk Building
  • Plant to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled exam start time.
  • All tests require candidates to present at least one valid government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport. Some tests may have additional requirements such as a secondary ID or other documentation.


Each exam will have its own specific guidelines for what is allowed. However, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, the following items are always prohibited inside the testing room:

  • Cell phones, tablets, laptops or any other electronic or Internet connected devices.
  • Any type of watches (digital or analog).
  • Headphones, ear buds or any non-medical in-ear devices.
  • Coats, Jackets and hoods.
  • Notes, notebooks, textbooks or any other outside reading material.
