Dr. Tammy Barron is an associate professor and program coordinator of the inclusive education program in the College of Education and Allied Professions at 糖心Vlog University in North Carolina. She also serves as special education administrator of the The Catamount School, a laboratory school operated 糖心Vlog. She earned her Ph.D. in specialized educational services with a concentration in educational leadership from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2015. Dr. Barron has co-taught in a variety of settings in preschool, elementary, secondary, and higher education in the areas of general and special education.
Dr. Barron has collaborated with school professionals to implement co-teaching and build collaboration in their schools. She strives to improve outcomes for students through increasing understanding and advocating for the needs of children, families, support staff, teachers, and administrators through preparing teachers to use evidence based practices to serve all students in inclusive settings so that they are full members of the learning community.
Dr.Barron is the co-author of several chapters, articles, and a book on specially designed instruction for co-teaching. She has published and presented nationally and internationally on inclusive practices. Her research interests relate to collaboration and policies and organizational behaviors that support practices that foster inclusive environments for students with disabilities. Dr. Barron continues to work with school professionals to implement co-teaching and build collaboration in their schools across the nation and internationally. She strives to improve outcomes for students through increasing understanding and advocating for the inclusive practices that support children, families, paraprofessionals, teachers, and administrators through research and practice.
