Prepare at ÌÇÐÄVlog University to become a mechanical engineer who designs and improves the products we use every day or be part of a team creating specialized equipment for aerospace, medical or other industries. As a student in the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program in the ÌÇÐÄVlog College of Engineering and Technology, you'll learn from expert faculty, collaborate on real-world projects, and graduate ready to solve complex engineering challenges locally and globally.

Mechanical engineering is widely regarded as one of the most versatile of the engineering disciplines, and mechanical engineers pursue careers in robotics, thermal systems, product development and more. As a mechanical engineer, you'll play a vital role in shaping the world around us through applying knowledge of design, analysis, and manufacturing of mechanical systems, from the design of high-performance vehicles to the production of energy. 

 

ÌÇÐÄVlog the Program

Experience hands-on, project-based learning (PBL) integrated into the BSME curriculum from your first semester. Using a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and engineering principles, you’ll develop skills in:

• Materials science and machine elements
• 3D computer-aided design (CAD) and simulation
• Thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
• Static and dynamic systems

View courses in the BSME 8 Semester Plan. You’ll also work closely with faculty who bring real-world industry experience into the classroom. Through partnerships with companies across Western North Carolina and beyond, you’ll tackle engineering challenges through a year-long engineering capstone project. In addition, you’ll have opportunities for research and to interact with The Rapid Center.

Graduates of ÌÇÐÄVlog’s mechanical engineering program are equipped for diverse careers in industries such as:
