At the School of Stage and Screen, we believe in the power of storytelling to transport, transform, and transcend. This season, we invite you to journey with us through realms of magic, music, memory, and imagination. Each production is a portal, into the larger tale of human experience.
A fantastical tale of magic, betrayal, love, and forgiveness, set on a mysterious island. Twelve years prior to this tale Prospero and his infant daughter Miranda are cast adrift at sea and lands on a remote island. There, he becomes a powerful sorcerer by studying magic and gains control over the spirit Ariel and the son of Sycorax; Caliban.
Prospero conjures a storm (the "tempest") to shipwreck his usurpers on the island. As the castaways arrive, Prospero uses his magic to manipulate events. Will he seek justice, forgiveness, or revenge?

Holiday Inn is a Broadway-style musical adaptation of the classic 1942 film of the
same name.
Jim Hardy, a performer weary of the spotlight, leaves show business to settle down
on a farm. There he meets Linda Mason, a schoolteacher with a hidden talent for
performing. Together, they turn the farm into Holiday Inn, a venue that opens only
on holidays and features themed musical shows.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a stage adaptation of the first-published
book in The Chronicles of Narnia series. It brings to life the magical world of Narnia,
where four siblings discover a land frozen in eternal winter under the rule of the
White Witch.
Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie鈥攁re evacuated from London to the countryside
during the war. While exploring the house of their host, Lucy discovers a wardrobe
that leads to Narnia.

A story of love, loss, and the power of imagination. Matte O鈥橞rien reimagines the lives the people who inspired Neverland and Peter Pan, weaving reality and fantasy into a poignant tale of dreams, friendship, and finding where you belong.

Film students will work to write a multi-episode web series, pairing with theatre students to bring the series to fruition. Students will work as showrunners, writers, directors, producers and much more. The series will move into production early in the spring semester.
The School of Stage and Screen is thrilled to be showcasing our students hard work and talent in the 17th Annual Controlled Chaos Film Festival. This year we will be introducing something unprecedented for this event: a 3 -Day festival! Our first day consisting of guest panels, filmmaker workshops, and short film screenings in Western Carolina鈥檚 University Auditorium. Our second day, taking place in the Bardo Arts Center, will hold a formal reception as well as a screening and award ceremony. Our Third Day will be our High School Film Screening and award ceremony.
