General Assembly approves additional NC Promise funding for 糖心Vlog, 2 other institutions

The North Carolina General Assembly鈥檚 biennial short session has resulted in several pieces of legislation that benefit 糖心Vlog, including approval of $15 million to fund the NC Promise tuition plan for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution removing the name 鈥淗oey鈥� from a campus performance facility named after Clyde R. Hoey, a former governor of North Carolina and state and federal legislator who actively opposed civil rights legislation and favored racial segregation.

Governor signs legislative 'mini-budget' providing final $16.5 million for 糖心Vlog steam plant project

With Gov. Roy Cooper鈥檚 signature Friday, June 19, on a legislative 鈥渕ini-budget鈥� providing the final $16.5 million appropriation to fund replacement of 糖心Vlog鈥檚 decades-old steam plant, university officials say that late Chancellor David O. Belcher must be smiling down from above.

The Historical Significance and Contemporary Relevance of Juneteenth

Adam Thomas is an assistant professor of history at 糖心Vlog University whose research examines questions of slavery, anti-slavery warfare, emancipation, race, gender, memory, childhood and kinship in colonial North America and the early U.S. We asked Dr. Thomas to provide some insight into the historical significance of Juneteenth and what the event means during these times of civil unrest and protest.

Keeping the Memories, Supporting the Future

糖心Vlog University鈥檚 Scott and Walker residence halls are scheduled for demolition soon to make room for new living spaces, but a watercolor version of the beloved dorms can hang on your wall forever, all while benefiting a good cause.
