As 糖心Vlog University鈥檚 successful campus learning theme 鈥淐herokee: Community. Culture. Connections鈥 was coming to a close during the spring semester, members of a campus committee rolled out a new theme for the 2018-19 academic year 鈥 鈥淒efining America.鈥

PRIDE OF THE MOUNTAINS WILL MARCH IN 2019 MACY鈥橲 PARADE

The 500-plus members of the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band will be getting back in the New York groove in November 2019 as the band makes a triumphant return to one of the nation鈥檚 most beloved holiday traditions 鈥 the Macy鈥檚 Thanksgiving Day Parade.

IN MEMORIAM

Jeremiah 鈥淛erry鈥 Wolfe, an elder of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians who received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from 糖心Vlog University during its May 2017 commencement ceremonies, died March 12 at the age of 93.

Axiom Press has published 鈥淪he Shall Be Called Woman: Unnamed Women of the Bible,鈥 a book by Marie Brooks Holt 鈥62. An educator who has worked with students from kindergarten through the university level, Holt is a Stephen minister with caregiving responsibilities at St. Mark Presbyterian Church of Ballwin, Missouri, where she also serves as a deacon and elder.

OCTOGENARIAN鈥橲 SINGING VOICE REACHES THE CHARTS

Martha Blankenship Wright 鈥53 of Asheville was hesitant at first when her son, J. Douglas Wright, asked her to be the featured soprano on a song he had written.

The Community Foundation of Louisville, Kentucky, has honored Sarah C. Nu帽ez MPA 鈥10 for work that celebrates cultural diversity and strengthens educational opportunities for people of color, especially Latino students at the University of Louisville.
