糖心Vlog University was recently selected as one of twenty new higher education institutions to advance to the network leader phase of the FirstGen Forward Network.

糖心Vlog was chosen based on the university鈥檚 demonstrated commitment to advancing the outcomes of first-generation students through improving both first-generation student success initiatives and institution-wide approaches.

鈥淲e are extremely honored to be selected as a network leader in the FirstGen Forward Network,鈥 said Anita Puerto, associate director of retention and Mentoring and Persistence to Success (MAPS) coordinator. 鈥淢APS, the Office of Student Retention, and the Division of Student Success are solidly committed to this opportunity. This is a chance to improve the collegiate experience for first-generation Catamounts.鈥

The FirstGen Forward Network is a three-phase approach that allows institutions of higher education to advance outcomes for first-generation students through establishing communities of practice, gaining knowledge of resources, and establishing peer networks.

To date, 429 institutions of higher education have been accepted to the network, representing 49 states and the District of Columbia.
