Hamlet, Prince of Denmark

LIVE PERFORMANCE: Friday, September 19, 2025, at 7:30 pm

The image depicts two individuals standing face-to-face in a dark, misty setting. One person, wearing a black leather jacket and with curly hair, is holding the head of the other individual鈥攚ho has long hair and is dressed in a sleeveless top鈥攚ith both hands. The atmosphere is moody and dramatic, and both individuals' faces are intentionally blurred, adding a sense of anonymity or abstraction to the scene.

鈥淪omething is rotten in the state of Denmark鈥 鈥 William Shakespeare

Hamlet is consumed by doubt and perhaps descending into madness. After his father dies in strange circumstances, he loses his footing鈥 Are those close to him deceiving him? Beset by apparitions, is he losing his mind? As his grip on reality loosens, how can he tell the truth from lies and those who are loyal from traitors?

Created by choreographer Guillaume C么t茅 and stage director Robert Lepage, Hamlet pulls the audience deep into a world of deceptiveness, where phantoms and humans mingle on a minimalist set where light, shadow and transparency play a central role. This metaphorical reinterpretation of the Shakespearian drama draws a fine line connecting movements of the body with what may or may not be lurking within the corners of the mind.

Experience this hauntingly beautiful production live at Bardo Arts Center鈥攚here illusion and truth blur on stage. Don鈥檛 miss your chance to witness this unforgettable performance. Get your tickets now!

Cote Danse logo

C么t茅 Danse burst onto the Canadian dance scene in 2021, thanks to the collaboration between Choreographer Guillaume C么t茅 and Producers Etienne Lavigne and Anisa Tejpar. Since then, they have been actively presenting a range of original works and immersive dance experiences.

Under the artistic direction of Guillaume C么t茅, C么t茅 Danse establishes a unique vision, combining classical dance knowledge with captivating geometries and intense human connections. Their style is characterized by contemporary lines, sleek contours, and refined athleticism, creating a distinct and dynamic aesthetic.

Through collaborations with a diverse group of designers, artists, and partners such as Robert Lepage, Mirari Studios, and Son Lux, C么t茅 Danse has successfully produced four full-length productions. The company attracted significant attention since its very beginning, with 140 performances in 23 cities in its first four years of existence.

Ex Machina logo

Led by artistic director Robert Lepage, Ex Machina creates, produces and disseminates multidisciplinary artistic works, most often theatrical.

The company brings together creators from several fields of activity and offers a broad range of artistic productions: original plays written and performed solo or collectively, plays based on existing texts, productions in which various disciplines (dance, music, museology) mingle with theater, operas and multimedia productions featuring a predominantly technological dimension. Ex Machina develops the majority of its shows in Quebec City, then presents them abundantly in Quebec, Canada and elsewhere in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

Beyond their diversity, the company鈥檚 projects have some features in common. Anecdotes lead to the exploration of ideas such as the revelation of identity through exposure to the other. Cultural intersections, the nature of the creative act, interrupted communication and states of dependence are recurring themes. Several dramatic situations oppose the quotidian to the extraordinary, the naturalism to the metaphor, and somehow diffident characters to historical figures. The multilingualism, the massive use of images, the reversal of perspective, the variations in scale, the use of narrative codes borrowed from cinema and the use of technological tools aim to spark meaning and emotion, reflecting a desire to poeticize theatrical expression.

Dvoretsky Productions logo

Dvoretsky Productions was established by impresario Svetlana Dvoretsky with the aim of creating and producing artistically powerful projects for Canadian and international audiences. Show One Productions, her other company, is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is recognized as a leader in presenting, promoting, and producing the performing arts in Canada and around the world.
